File extension ani information

An animated Windows cursor is what is commonly referred to as the ANI file extension. A spinning hour glass, a little dragon, a tapping hand or even a flying space ship can appear over the normal mouse pointer, whenever a computer is waiting for a task to be completed depending mainly with the configuration of the computer. Some animated cursors can be found over the internet in by downloading in particular sites; and others can be created by certain software developers. Installing this file depends on the version of Windows.
File extension ANI can be used to read and store Windows Animated Cursors. Being a structured file format (Microsoft RIFF), .ani file contains information about the animation (length, author and title, steps and order of each step…) followed by several frames that are stored in the icon format. Each step or frame is displayed during a short time (length or delay). This is frame timing that is measured in jiffies; 1 jiffy equals 1/60th of a second~16.66 ms. Previewing of .ani files that are correctly associated can be done using Windows Explorer.
